After the hustle and bustle of the previous midterm week had passed, the school’s atmosphere had relaxed far too quickly for your comfort. Going from days of seemingly never-ending examinations to back-to-back class projects had left you on edge and hopped up on a near-illegal amount of caffeine.

Yet, after all that stress-inducing work, you were still antsy to do more. I mean, seriously, how does someone relax back into a schedule of only lessons after that assassination attempt of a school week?

You wouldn’t consider yourself an overachiever or workaholic by any means, but by God-

Seeing Koyama’s expression of absolute despair after you had wiped the floor with him on the biology examination had you beaming with vainglorious pride.

A score of 98 out of 100 to his measly 95.

Serves Mr. Memorization Monster right, you had thought. Whenever Gakushu would bring him around for study sessions, you always argued vehemently with Koyama against his reliance on memorizing the material over understanding the concepts.

Call it petty and childish, but that taste of victory and being objectively correct? Now that’s a drug you could get addicted to.

With Koyama down for the count, you have three people remaining on your ‘Kunugigaoka High School Hit List,’ and Ren Sakikibara was next in line to be absolutely obliterated by your spite-fueled rank climbing.

Ren has been a notably difficult target, but Korosensei never taught you to be a quitter. You had spent a good chunk of the last few years fantasizing about the flowery prose you would use in your future victory speech against the Japanese Virtuoso himself.

Now, all you needed was the scores to prove your dominance.

Hence your current situation: sprawled on a couch in Gakushu’s room, offhandedly reading through the annotated notes of the current lesson in your Japanese Folk Literature class. The sounds of quick typing served as your background noise as you reviewed your initial literary analysis.

You had mostly skimmed the sections you highlighted, having gone over them with Kanzaki earlier in the week. However, a rather confusing passage stopped you in your tracks; you had spent the better part of the past hour re-reading it in an attempt to understand the excerpt.

To no avail, you can’t seem to wrap your head around it despite all your best efforts. Disappointedly, you knew that it was time for you to swallow your pride and ask your two other targets for assistance.

Luckily, the two in question are currently in the same room as you. Quite convenient.

You lower your readings onto your lap and look around at your surprisingly tranquil surroundings.

Sitting at your front was Karma, who was on the floor beside you, plotting out motion time graphs for his Physics elective. He was rather focused, drawing out the lines for the acceleration-time section, so you decided to leave him be.

If you caused Karma to draw a jagged line across his worksheet, he would need to reprint it and draw all the graphs again. Knowing him, he might just end up poking you with the uncapped permanent marker in his hand as revenge.

You decide to bother Gakushu, who is sitting on the couch next to your reclining form. He had his laptop on his lap and had somehow not stopped typing for the past two hours that you three have been studying.

“Gakushu? Are you busy?” you ask softly, craning your neck to look up at him.

He doesn’t give you a verbal response, but you know he heard you as soon as the sounds of typing stop abruptly.

“Can I ask you for the historical context of this author? It might help me understand what he wrote.” you requested, flipping to the front page of your readings and raising them towards Gakushu.

He briefly glances at your paper, and you perk up in joy when he seems to adhere to your request.

“Thank you-” you start, before realizing he had just gone back to revising his Chemistry lab calculations.

Never before had you experienced such blatant disrespect. The audacity of this boy, all because he was a few grade points up on you.

Putting on your best, Irina-sensei-approved, pouty face, you reach forward and tap Gakushu’s knee.

“Aww! Please, it won’t take that long. Just a quick Google search?”

You look up at him with as much unrelenting cuteness as you can muster, but Gakushu doesn’t even give you the benefit of a glare. Not even you bonking your head lightly against his thigh had broken his concentration.

“If you truly need the information immediately, I don’t understand why you won’t just get up and grab your laptop,” he states coldly.

Unbelievable. Not even Karasuma-sensei was this much of a square. What made the electrolyte count of Japanese sports drinks more interesting to him than helping you?

“But Mr. President, your couch is so comfy. Its gravitational force is too strong!” you stretch out your limbs, leaving your arms to fall lax on Gakushu’s forearms.

He stops typing once more, and gives you a sigh, shaking his head. You smile up at him, vocalizing a mischievous “hehe.”

“I can assure you it has nothing of the sort. Why don’t you go bother Akabane instead.” Gakushu responds in exasperation, simply pushing your arms off of his while you cry out in complaint.

Karma, upon hearing his name mentioned, perks up with a ‘hm?’ and puts down his marker. You turn to look at him with faux dejection, noticing that he has almost finished his worksheet. He tilts his head at you in response, a mixture of confusion and amusement on his face.

“Whatcha say to them, Pres? Why do they look so sad?” Karma asks as he gathers up his graphing papers.

“Karma, he was being mean to me~” you whine, only for Gakushu to huff out air in irritation. “See! So cruel, I was just asking for help.”

In response to your silly antics, Karma snorts out a laugh. “Gaku-kun, aren’t you supposed to help out your fellow students in their education? You should be a good example.”

Gakushu groans in annoyance, “Akabane, don’t enable their childish behavior. They are just too lazy to get up and walk three steps to get their device.”

Upon processing his words, you shoot up in offense, moving to a quick sitting position while crossing your arms. You couldn’t understand why he couldn’t give you this short act of service.

“Gakushu! You’re so mean, I just wanted your help with this.” You frown, pouting with a little more anger. Karma’s lips pursed into a thin line as he glanced at Gakushu who had not stopped typing, seemingly unbothered by your distress. However, Karma doesn’t seem to say anything and goes behind the couch to put his graphs into his bag. Figures, he’d leave the growing tension for you two to deal with.

You let out a sigh of disappointment, “You know what, nevermind. I’m sorry for bothering you when you’re clearly busy.”

Swinging your legs off the couch, you awkwardly move back into your earlier reclining position and mentally prepare yourself to re-analyze the difficult Japanese excerpt again. However, right as you lift your readings towards your face, someone grabs the papers from your hand.

You look up in surprise, seeing Gakushu put down his laptop on the coffee table with one hand while he reads your papers in the other. After a brief silence, he speaks your name.

“You’re intelligent enough to analyze this regardless of historical context. I’ve seen you tackle more difficult prose than this one.” Gakushu states, giving you back the papers.

Furrowing your eyebrows, you try to process your next action. Were you supposed to preen at the praise, or be insulted at his lack of understanding of your intentions?

“Gaku-kun, don’t be so dense. I’m pretty sure they just want us to study together.” Karma finally cuts in, leaning on the couch’s backrest behind you and Gakushu.

You look up at Karma with silent thanks before clearing your throat. “Yeah, that’s what I wanted. Look- I’m really glad that you think so highly of me, but this is genuinely stumping me and I just wanted your guys’ help.”

Gakushu and Karma gaze at you silently, both processing your words with deep thought. You decide to continue and get your piece out, hoping to smooth over the tension you’ve created.

“I value your guys’ opinion, okay? Talking about these things with two of the most intelligent people I know really helps me understand them faster. Besides, we’ve been having non-stop study sessions for the past two weeks. Yet, we’ve barely spent any time together that wasn’t just an individually focused study period.”

You cover your face with your papers, feeling sheepish about your sudden vulnerability. The room is silent, and you start wondering if it’s time to back-pedal and try to avert course.

Once you gather enough courage to look at the two boys, you first see Gakushu give you a troubled, guilty look.

“I apologize for being so indifferent. I- I didn’t mean to disregard your needs.” 

Upon meeting your keen, curious stare, Gakushu pauses for a moment and looks away, flustered. He takes a moment to recollect himself before continuing, “You’re usually so self-sufficient, and so I unfairly assumed you were simply just fooling around to get our attention.”

“Well, that last part is kinda true, but I wasn’t lying when I said I wanted your help,” you replied softly, cautiously reaching out for Gakushu’s hand in an attempt to give physical comfort. To your elation, he reaches out to take your hand, keeping yours in a gentle grip while moving to rest your intertwined hands on his lap.

Karma, who for the past few minutes chose to keep quiet while the two of you worked out your feelings, let out a big sigh of relief that he didn’t know he was even holding in.

“Geez, you guys sure know how to make things more dramatic than they need to be.” he voices, wiping away an imaginary sweatdrop in an attempt to lighten the mood.

“Hey!” you can’t help but smile as you reach up to playfully swat Karma’s shoulder with your note-holding hand.

The redhead dodges your papers with ease, laughing softly as he continues to tease, “Did you really need to put us through that soap opera just to ask for help? So theatrical of you~”

You let out an impish “hmph!” in response to Karma’s jests, choosing to ask Gakushu for support with a light hand squeeze and your best puppy-dog eyes.

To your chagrin, however, he simply shakes his head with a small grin. “Unfortunately, Akabane is right. That was a rather ostentatious way of asking for our assistance.”

Karma lets out a boisterous laugh as your face turns red. He even has the audacity to reach out and pinch your tomato-colored cheeks as you wallow in your shame.

“Ehh! Why are you two ganging up on me now? Just help me already! How else am I beating Ren and catching up to you two?” you whine light-heartedly, grabbing Karma’s wrist so he stops pinching your cheeks.

“Huh? Is that your motivation? Gee, I didn’t realize that was why you were on a ranking warpath.” he asks, finally moving his hand away from your face and straightening up.

“Ah- Yea, maybe? Ehe,” you utter, still reeling from the mortification of the previous topic.

Gakushu puts a hand to his chin, analyzing your statement. “Hmm, that does make sense. I thought you had just wanted to prove Koyama’s studying method wrong, but if we take into account your history, you’ve actually been slowly outranking the Virtuosos throughout the examinations.”

“You’ve already outranked Koyama? Hah! No wonder he’s been such a sourpuss lately.” Karma exclaims, moving around the couch and grabbing his practice problems from the coffee table.

“Yeah! Didn’t you guys see my name above his on the rankings board?” You question, amused at the thought of completely ruining Koyama’s week with your complete, and utter victory.

“I did,” Gakushu pats your head with his unoccupied hand, “Good work, please keep at it and go humble Ren.”

You preen at his praise, heart pumping and even more motivated to dethrone Ren Sakikibara.

“Ehh, sorry, I didn’t see. All I need to know is that I’m still above Gaku-kun over here.” Karma admits, seemingly completely guiltless about his offense to you both.

Gakushu rolls his eyes as the redhead blows him a kiss, untangling your hands to reach out for his laptop.

“Scoot.” Karma taps your lower leg with his rolled-up problem set paper.

You lazily raise your head at him, “Mmm, nah. Maybe, if you were nicer, I’d let you sit with us.”

“Come on, move.” Karma starts incessantly whacking your knees with his Math worksheet. You kick back at his arm halfheartedly.

“Alright, don’t move. Fine by me.” he seemingly concedes, halting his paper-swatting assault on your legs—

Before plopping his butt on your outstretched legs.

“Hey!” You immediately struggle against his weight, “Hey! Move off, you're crushing my legs.”

Despite your best efforts, you can barely lift him off of you in your current position.

“Nope, these are the terms you agreed to, sweetheart~” Karma teases.

Still kicking and flailing, you call out to Gakushu for help, but he only goes back to work despite the disturbances. “You’re heavy! Gaku-kun, please get him off me.”

“Akabane, please refrain from causing bodily harm to our partner.” Gakushu requests with a hint of amusement present under his exasperation.

Karma groans but unenthusiastically complies nonetheless. You kick at him in playful revenge once the circulation returns to your legs, and he makes a mocking face at you before setting down his rolled-up Math worksheet on the coffee table.

“Come on, at least move up. I don’t have space.”

“Nooo, if I move up any further Gakushu might push me off the couch.” You protest despite Karma’s expectant looks.

Luckily, Gakushu cuts in, “I would do nothing of the sort.”

You look up at him in surprise. “Eh?” You breathe, waiting for him to continue. He responds by moving his laptop forward and patting his thigh, signaling for you to lie down on him.

Karma shares a surprised look with you before quickly encouraging you with wild hand movements to not pass up the rare opportunity where Gakushu initiates physical affection. You move up to rest your head on his lap despite your reddening face, and when you glance up at the strawberry blonde boy, you see a faint hint of red light up his cheeks as well before he clears his throat and continues typing.

After shaking off the brief shock, Karma finally gets to sit down on the couch. “You can stretch your legs over mine, I’m just gonna read your excerpt so we can finally help you with it.”

“Oh, uh- okay? Thanks,” you say, flustered at the close proximity to your partners. “Let me get them.”

You recover the papers squished between you and the couch and hand them over to Karma. He proceeds to start reading them, and the three of you fall into an easy silence.

Well, as easy of a silence as you can maintain, laying there with absolutely no clue what to do while in between your two preoccupied partners.

Karma is still reading the passages on the paper, however, his idle hand had started tracing circles on your ankle at some point. Despite your burning face, you still feel too meek to move or say anything about it.

Gakushu on the other hand, has moved on to his student council work, reading through club constitutions with his left hand scrolling the documents with the trackpad, while his right is combing absentmindedly through your hair.

Despite being physically frozen, your mind is overclocked with the proximity and their casual ministrations. Gakushu and Karma are much too uncomfortable for any overt PDA outside of hand-holding, and you’ve been so busy with schoolwork that you three rarely even have the chance to be physically affectionate in private.

Well, you suppose there has to be a start for everything. Still, you wish you couldn't hear your heartbeat so loud in your ears. You want to be able to relax and enjoy the rare domestic moment with your partners.

They aren’t really making it easy for you, though.

“Hey, hey. No falling asleep now. You still have to defeat Ren to havee any chance at beating us, remember?” Karma gives your leg a double tap to catch your attention.

You jolt, “Wait, eh- Did you say something before that?”

“Yeah, I was asking for which passage you didn’t understand,” Karma states, looking at you in anticipation.

“I- Uh.”

You were trying to formulate a response, trying to remember what exactly you even wanted their help with. But Karma started tracing circles around your inner calf and Gakushu was lightly scratching your scalp with his fingertips, leaving you to do nothing but gape and stutter.

“Hey, sweetheart. You alright?” Karma asks curiously, as if it isn’t clearly obvious that you’re currently flustered.

Laughing awkwardly in response, you resort to covering your face before Gakushu notices that you are as red as Karma’s hair. “Haha, I’m fine,” you mutter into your palms, though the sound is muffled.

You peek out from in between your fingers just in time to see realization dawn on Karma’s face. He gives you a sly grin, now tracing the circles on your calf with more intent.

“Gaku-kun, it seems like we haven’t been the best boyfriends. Look how red they are, we aren’t even doing anything that scandalous yet.”

You let out a little squeal and cover your eyes one more.

“Eh! What do you mean yet? And no, you’re great boyfriends! The best! Just- I’m not- Not used to this.” you stutter out quickly, lowering your hands to uncover your eyes.

“If that’s the case, we’ll make sure you get used to it.” Gakushu gives you a casual head pat, as you look up at him. His heartfelt gaze combined with your comprehension of his statement causes you to shrink into his side to hide your face further.

“I- ugh! You two, you’re gonna kill me here,” you grumble.

Karma laughs loudly and you feel Gakushu vibrate with a chuckle, “Dying from too much love? Now that’s truly a modern-day problem, dearest~”

Comically peeved by his remark, you turn away from Gakushu’s side to glare at Karma, who simply waggles his eyebrows at you in response.

“Anyway—” you start, abruptly cutting yourself off when you feel a ticklish sensation at your feet.

You kick wildly, trying to get away from his hands. “Karma! Stop that- haha! Stop!”

Gakushu quickly lifts up his laptop to avoid your flailing limbs, and you end up falling off the couch from your frantic movements. You roll onto the coffee table with enough force to displace the items placed on it, forcing Karma to get up quickly and check on you.

The panic starts as soon as you raise your head and see Gakushu’s water tumbler topple over.

With the quickest reflexes you can muster, you dive for the bottle before it can hit the floor.

“Gotcha!” you exclaim, catching it just in time.

To your surprise, the tumbler is heavy, as if the water inside was barely depleted. Karma seems to pick up on your realization and raises his hand to his mouth in faux concern. “Uh-oh.” He side-eyes the strawberry-blonde boy on the couch.

Gakushu stiffens up, registering what you two have discovered. He tries to play it off, continuing to type despite knowing what’s coming next for him.

“Gaku-kun?” you smile sweetly at him.

“Mm.”

“When was the last time you drank water?” you question, setting the bottle on the table and standing up to walk over to the couch.

“... I’ll drink some as soon as I finish reviewing the Debate Club’s renewed bylaws proposal,” Gakushu replies curtly, not wishing to elaborate further.

“Gakushu. Go drink water, now.” You demand sternly, tapping your foot on the floor. Karma stands next to you and leans over the strawberry-blonde boy’s laptop.

“Yeah, Pres, it’s not like their constitution will run away while you aren’t looking.” he jokes, using a finger to push down the laptop screen.

Gakushu tugs the laptop away, “Just let me finish this, it won’t take long.”

Despite his attempt to ignore you two, the both of you continue to stare at him expectantly. You have half a mind to just start telling him off again for neglecting his health.

However, before you can speak, Karma shrugs and walks away. “Whatever.”

You almost get annoyed at the redhead’s disregard for your shared partner’s health, until Karma signals something to you as he’s walking behind the couch.

‘Play along.’ he mouths, getting into position.

Not wanting to foil his plan, you put on a stern expression and put your hands on your hips. “Gakushu, what did we tell you about taking care of yourself?”

“I know, I’ve been keeping it in mind. I just got carried away today,” he replied, still averting his gaze and typing incessantly like a man on death row.

You crouch down to put your hands on his laptop and push the screen down, “Please look at me.”

Upon being forced to look you in the eye, Gakushu falters and loosens his grip on his laptop. You take the moment of weakness as an opportunity to place it gently on the couch beside him.

“Gakushu?” you ask softly, leaning in closer.

“Yeah, I know.” he shuts his eyes and exhales, bowing his head to meet your gaze once more.

Gakushu doesn’t notice you glancing towards Karma who is now positioned right behind him.

You drop the act and smile wickedly, “Sorry for this.”

Karma quickly dives behind Gakushu to scoop him up by his armpits. Meanwhile, you turn away from him and take hold of his legs, propping them up on your shoulders. “Hah?” your victim yells out in surprise.

In perfect synchronization, you and Karma lift him and start hauling him downstairs to the kitchen.

“Release me, you ingrates!” Gakushu shouts.

“No can do, Pres!” Karma responds, howling with laughter as you run down the stairs.

You can’t help but giggle at the situation, “Not a very polite thing to call your partners, Gaku-kun!”

Right as you reach the bottom of the stairs, Gakushu manages to struggle enough to send the three of you tumbling down into a tangle of limbs, complaints, and giggles.

Gakushu tries his best to untangle himself from you and Karma, but the two of you are much too amused to let go of him and get off the floor.

Eventually, he stops struggling and lays back down with you two on both sides of him, pinning his limbs down. “Never do that again,” he demands tiredly.

“Only if you promise to never neglect your health again!” you tease, getting close to his face and staring giddily, unable to control your smile.

Karma follows in tow, leaning over Gakushu’s face, “Yeah, Pres, can’t make demands without giving something in return~”

Gakushu looks at both of your grinning faces, exasperated at the two imbeciles he chose as his romantic partners. After a brief moment, rolls his eyes in faux frustration, before letting out a chortle of amusement, “You two are unbelievable.”

The three of you devolve into a series of giggles, snorts, and chuckles.

After you three calm down, you lay your head on Gakushu’s chest and look up at him, “But you still love us right?” Karma reaches over to pull you into a closer hug and settles his chin into Gakushu’s neck.

Gakushu smiles softly, answering your question confidently as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Of course I do.”

For absolute sure, there are a whole plethora of nasties out there just waiting to infect your psychic Gallifreyan. We don't know that much about transmission patterns, though we can definitely explore the area.

These could come in several forms, all of which might thrive in particular areas and have a different presentation of symptoms.

Viral: Psionic viruses that hijack telepathic signals, spreading through mental links and causing disruptions in neural pathways.nSome common symptoms may include:

High fever

Intense headaches

Telepathic noise (unwanted mental chatter)

Hallucinations

Bacterial: Psionic bacteria thriving in psionic energy fields, spreading through shared mental and physical spaces. Some common symptoms may include:

Inflammation of neural tissues

Difficulty focusing telepathic abilities

Severe migraines

Parasitic: Mind parasites that feed on psionic energy, spreading through telepathic contact. Some common symptoms may include:

Isolation Fields: Hospitals would have special isolation fields and other tech to block telepathic signals, keeping the disease from jumping to other patients or medical staff.

Psionic Cleansing: Highly-trained 'psycho-healers' might dive into the patient’s mind to locate and neutralise the infection, sort of like a mental deep-clean.

Mental Shields: Both patient and healer would use strong mental shields during treatment to avoid spreading the disease.

Symbiotic Assistance: Time Lords with a strong connection to their TARDIS might be able to utilise it for help.

Psionic Medical Machines: These gadgets might emit controlled psionic waves to disrupt the infectious agent in the mind, but they'd have to be flawlessly calibrated to avoid damaging the patient.

Neural Realignment: Fancy neurotech could realign neural pathways, flushing out the disease and fixing any mental messes it caused.

Offworld Aids: There are plenty of races that are far more versed in psionics than Gallifreyans who might be able to help.

"Luckiest star" or Kickin usually appears to be the typical tough guy bounty hunter or the flirtatious pilot who has a lover in every port where he lands; a shameless man, without fear of what people will say about him, without any sense of danger or how far he will go. What’s your favourite thing about the ocean? How expansive and beautiful it is.

What odour makes you feel physically sick? The smell of shoes that have been worn without socks/on a person's sweaty feet is one that gets me. Also when Nippy uses the litter box, that period right afterwards, before she's buried her waste and the litter hasn't had a chance to dry everything out and mask the odor yet. I scoop/stir directly after each time she's used the box unless I'm asleep, so it doesn't last long. I've a strong stomach generally, but occasionally those few moments make me gag.

How often do you cut your hair? Not too often.

How easily offended are you? It depends on the context of the situation, honestly. My feelings can get hurt easily and I can be sensitive, but usually there's an actual reason for it. I'm not offended by every single thing I don't like or agree with or every person/viewpoint that differs from me. I can tune a lot of shit out when needed.

Well now I've gotten riled up.

When I first started to think something was actually wrong, that he was abusive and not just a jerk sometimes, someone else mentioned he sounded "like a narcissist".

Then those videos I mentioned started popping up on Instagram a lot thanks to Algo, and I watched them and went "Hey! He DOES do that!!"

And I got MAD.

The more of those videos I watched, the angrier I got. People saying "Hey! This is ABUSE!" and me going "I KNEW IT!!!"

The angrier I got, the more I started to question that anger. Were they TRYING to make me angry? They sure were angry. Was their anger clouding their judgement? Was it changing the meaning of their words? Were they looking for behaviors that were hurtful but weren't intentional to support their anger? Their videos started to sound uncaring, vindictive, lacking in empathy, to the point that I started to ask myself "Are they trying to make me angry on purpose and relying on shock for engagement instead of actually trying to educate?"

I read most of Why Does He Do That? and had to stop about halfway because other than physical abuse, he did everything the other men in the book did and it made me angry all over again. It was pointed out to me that the book was biased because it spoke almost exclusively about abuse perpetrated by men. The only mention that women could be abusive was a small blurb at the beginning saying everything applied to women, too, and then going back to talking about men. I acknowledged that bias and moved on.

Then I moved onto the medical resources and the DSM-V which you can read online.

I was able to more objectively look at the descriptions of NPD, narcissistic behavior, and "narcissistic abuse" and say "Yeah, he does that. Why does he do that? Emotional neglect as a child... I can understand that. That doesn't excuse the abuse nor does it mean I have to endure it."

"Narcissistic discard" is described differently between biased personal accounts and presumably unbiased medical texts, but it's still there. It's easier to type "narcissistic discard" than something like "Someone exhibiting symptoms of NPD may suddenly lose all interest in a person if that person no longer complies or no longer supplies them with the admiration they desire." and gets the idea across.

Like I said, I don't talk like a textbook, but I do read them.

The commenter was right: A lot of the biased resources out there are demonizing and try to paint anyone and everyone with NPD as irredeemably evil, but I don't agree with or believe that just because I read it somewhere.

I may be a dumbass but I am smart enough to know to look into multiple resources.

And I am still angry.

So what is autism in a brief summary?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition involving persistent challenges with social communication, restricted interests and repetitive behavior. While autism is considered a lifelong disorder, the degree of impairment in functioning because of these challenges varies between individuals with autism.

Ethnicities such as a person of color, Asian, or other ethnicities may not present how a caucasian person would. A reason may be some non Caucasian's (a bodily white person) was taught it's okay to punish their children with physical punishments. And because of that some traits of autism such as autistic meltdowns may present in a different way and not in a way that you'd normally see it. Source and source

Moving on to the topic of discussion,

When we talk about special interests what do you think of? Trains, animals, maybe even math. And yes that is some others may have, but it's not limited to just those. Some people with autistic (not always the case but is pretty common) have those as a special interest. I know as a child I had a special interest of an owl. This would have me draw owls where ever and whenever, it was a favorite topic of mine. Much like how someone may enjoy rambling about certain shows, certain topics. These topics is to soothe the person in question, or to use as an award for good behavior. Think of it as you were gifted a golden sticker because you did well in class despite feeling overwhelmed and anxious, the sticker can provide an extra layer of praise and comfortability for the person.

When in school I know we had severely bad anger issues, which lead into fights, being explled and kicked out of school. However during that time a former in school the counselor gave me a stress toy that I took everywhere and had time where I needed time for myself. It was a way to cope with the stress that comes with my disorders including autism. Since I don't speak about having autism a ton, nor speak to a lot of people this may seem derange towards a normal person. But enough about me, let's go back to the academic sources rather than my rambling.

Neurotypical individuals also develop special interests, often in the form of hobbies. Although past research has focused on special interests held by children with autism spectrum disorder, little is known about their role in adulthood. The current study investigated differences in the content, number, and specificity of the special interests held by adult individuals with autism spectrum disorder and neurotypical individuals, using Internet discussion forums as a data source. Quantitative analysis of forum posts revealed significant differences between the diagnostic groups. Individuals with autism spectrum disorder reported having more interests in systemizing domains, more specific interests, and a greater number of interests overall than neurotypical individuals. Understanding special interests can lead to the development of educational and therapeutic programs that facilitate the acquirement of other important social and communication skills. Source

special interests are wrongly assumed to be obsessive. Even though persons with autism nay experience special interest as an 'addiction', they do not feel that they are unwanted or distressful (Baron-Cohen, 1989), as is the case in obsessive-compulsive conditions. Rather, they are a source of pleasure.

This poor understanding of the defining features of special interest is reflected by the fact that scholars use over 70 different term variants to describe such interests. By analysing the salience of these terms in 80 academic papers focussing on the subject, the author has found that 'special interests' is the most salient term, rather than 'circumscribed' and 'restricted' interests, or'obsessions'. The value of special interests to higher education becomes more clear when it is recognized that their defining features is an intrinsically motivation to know all there is to know about a subject without regard for the social or practical contexts in which it is embedded. In a rare study focussing on special interests in so-called 'high-functioning' adults, Aday (2011, p. 112) found that 85% of a sample of 150 reported one or more special interests; of this group, 90% pursued their interests) daily, and 35% for six hours a day. A larger and more recent study found that 65% of a sample of 687 adults with autism reported at least one special interest; 56% of the sample pursued their special interest(s) every day, for 0-2 hours by 31% and for 2-4 hours by 37% (Grove et. al., 2018, p. 4). Some people may opt to be self diagnosed because they were withheld of the acknowledgment they were diagnosed especially as an infant or child.

Does a parent have a right to receive a copy of psychotherapy notes about a child's mental health treatment?

No. The Privacy Rule distinguishes between mental health information in a mental health professional's private notes and that contained in the medical record. hero identity: zephyr. outfits are shades of sky blue and white, always with a hood and matching mask to obscure (some of, comic logic lets it work) her features. isn't spotted as often as other supers, but her vibes are known nonetheless: never fatally wounds, focuses on crowd control and flight, leaves criminals to the police instead of taking justice into her own hands. she'd only do it against chunky baddies who can tank damage but the image of her chucking various objects and items with the use of her powers is pretty fun. other power uses: speed bursts, electricity immunity, manipulating weather (incredibly exhausting on a bigger scale, not done often). has minimal hand-to-hand combat training that she learned from zach, taken up only if she's forced to ground herself during a fight and even then she tries her best to find ways to avoid it.

purely for fun, she's eternally a little chilly because i decided it'd be silly for her wind powers to affect her that way. her wardrobe reflects that and results in annual comments on how she's wearing ridiculous clothing during the warmer months.

the only quinn sibling to pursue education beyond high school, though it never saw much use due to hero life. i'm stupid do not ask me to specify her studies beyond physical science please and thank you <3

in her early teen years she started working at the family bakery (quinntessential confections) on-off, then eventually as an actual job during high school and college. had the privilege of flexible scheduling bc of the whole family-owned thing, which came in handy when she started to join in the supers activity alongside schoolwork.

was 23 when her parents were killed by doc holiday—a malefic entity from another dimension that takes human hosts to inflict its will, defeated in the 60s but recently returned possessing a college student to once again spread terror and violence. the quinns couldn't bring themselves to kill the being as he was controlling a poor kid that wasn't in control and actively hated everything the entity used him to do, which resulted in their deaths as holiday was motivated only to cause as much destruction and suffering as possible.

(might?? have a fun little thing of george having known the guy who holiday decided to turn into his puppet. add even more conflicting feelings to things.)

george ended up inheriting the bakery, while also needing to help cover the family home, which led to her doubling down on citizen work rather than super. she took up tutoring on the side, putting her studies to use there instead of searching for anything in those fields as she couldn't dream of letting the bakery go.

pastels are her beloveds and it's clear from the Everything about her. the bakery decorations, her bedroom, her wardrobe and accessories, etc etc. those things can also display her obsessive and perfectionist nature, everything must be neat and clean or it nags at her.

smth smth running battle with the umbral huntress who keeps trying to sway george towards altering her moral code because the city has so much corruption and her way of doing things is too "soft" to make a real impact. i'll bang out details later, important part is shoving my hero and my vigilante/villain together is fun and sexy. george never wavered until the deaths of her parents, unfortunately some of the huntress's points started to hit after that (probably won't last or truly change her mind?? but a fun journey to go on).

lowkey sims obsession and i don't think her gaming experience would go far beyond that franchise tbh. sometimes self-care is spending hours meticulously building a new school in sims 4 because you don't like the set-up of the default one included in the expansion pack, y'know.

listens to audiobooks as she works and her book collection is probably mostly of that variety, any printed ones are from childhood/teenage years or random ones bought to match an aesthetic she wanted for decorating a shelf or two.

transmisogyny isnt a real axis of oppression. im making fun of the concept. transwomen are biologically male. so feminism doesnt include them. excluding transwomen is not a slippery slope to excluding certain groups of actual women because transwomen are not women. its like claiming that saying vegan meat isnt real meat will lead to pork and chicken not being considered real meat either. makes absolutely no sense and is not comparable because vegan meat is just an imitation of the real thing while pork and chicken are two different types of real meat.

also im not advocating for transwomens rights being taken ☠️ im advocating for necessary restrictions, diagnostic methods, and education be put in place for medical transition. and for genderists to get a fucking grip and realize their gender feelings dont trump objective material reality. trans and dysphoric people deserve proper mental and physical healthcare and should be properly evaluated, educated, and cared for. This does not mean immediately shoving them into transition and affirming every feeling about themselves that they have. it feels good to be affirmed but it most often isnt healthy. I believe medical transition should be a very last resort option because of how drastic it is and how much it can fuck up someones body.

I've done the separate tribe aus and the main 🐉Wings of Fire AU... but... what about a...

⛰🐉Jade Mountain Academy⏳📜 AU?

This au would take place in Jade Mountain Academy, where the adults for both the X-Men and Brotherhood are teachers, and the teens/kids are students... Now, there will be winglets. And for each winglet, there is a spot for each tribe. There will be five winglets, each with the same name they had from Wings of Fire: Jade, Gold, Silver, Copper, and Quartz. This au takes on the more school-like qualities, and has a sense of normalcy some of the other 🐉Wings of Fire aus might lack...

Some characters will keep their tribe from the main au; some will be changed; and for this au, I plan to choose which tribe the reader is from, since y'all got to pick for the main au. Hybrids are a thing. If you are a hybrid, you can go into either tribes' spot. But, this only really works if you are a half-and-half hybrid. Anything over that gets complicated. I will be giving everyone their own special name for this au, too. I will come up with some options for the reader to pick from, and if I think it best, I will use a generic name to cover for the reader. Since we've gone over basic rules, let's get to the fun stuff...

Classes! The classes from Jade Mountain Academy are also in this au! We have history, math, hunting, basic health and anatomy, library/reading, art, music, and others we haven't seen yet/weren't exactly mentioned, like science, literature, spelling, physical education (P.E.), etc.... not to mention Prey Center time! And group activities, like presentations, field trips, scavenger hunts, basic safety, self-defense... So. Many. Possibilities. And the group caves! The different types of beds/bedding, environment, and little things kept in the room... Hammocks, rock ledges, leaves and ferns, a small pool or river, blankets, reed mats, animal furs, you name it, something will be provided for the student in question (within reason).

About relationships between characters: to start with, anything between the reader and everyone else is strictly platonic. Next, while a few characters may be romantic towards each other, that won't be explored as much. A few characters who I wasn't sure if they were adults or teens, I will decide on that for this au. I am mainly using X-Men Evolution for this, but will add in a few character dynamics from the Animated Series, and a few headcanons/changes that I came up with, such as less if the adults trying to maim children and toss them off cliffs, less trying to off Proffesor Xavier or Logan, and for all things wonderful, I'm letting these characters have ateast one friend/dragon/dragonet they are genuinely friends with/don't hate/can stand/love, platonically, hopefully (romance isn't everything).

For this au, everyone has the standard powers of the tribe they are in. If I say someone has a certain power, they have that certain power. Some tribes have extra gifts that only certain members get, depending on circumstances out of their talons, such as the NightWing mind-rrading or future-seeing, SkyWing firescales, MudWing red-egg burn immunity, or HiveWing genetically gifted powers... And about animus magic: it is rare. Extremely rare. Some characters may have an animus-touched object, but not the full power. I may put in something akin to Darkstalker's scroll, something of immense power, that can grant anything the user wants... but if it falls into the wrong talons, even once... it could spell chaos for both continents...

Humans and other dragons exist. Humans are a problem for the Academy at times, due to strained relations between the dragons and humans in the past. Scavengers have stolen and/or harmed, even killed, eggs and dragonets before, earning the ire of many dragons alike, and their kingdoms... while dragons have been known to sometimes eat humans, which scares the smaller species... tensions are high at times, and while some dragons believe scavengers are intelligent creatures, other dragons would rather they wipe them out/eat them at every opportunity.

Now... I may make the reader related to someone. I may not. For now, I'm leaving it undecided. I hope this honeycomb thought has been a sweet treat for everyone😊🧡💛🍯)

Week 2

As an environmental interpreter I want to stimulate self-reflection among the individuals with whom I engage to help them find places of empowerment in regards to their impact on the planet and thus relationship with nature. 

Engaging with people on a direct personal level energises me and gives me the opportunity to better understand my listener/participant so that I can tailor my communication to their personality.  This is why my ideal delivery method would be direct, in person communication.  Other delivery methods of information that I would be interested to use as supports would be a YouTube channel, documents and resource lists online.  Using video as a method of connecting with individuals or groups does offer a more accessible means of connection while still allowing for tone of voice, body language and visuals.  I think that having documents such as checklists or key information as well as resource links are very helpful in reducing the friction one may sometimes feel when engaging in a new activity or topic.

I see nature in every aspect of my life.  Where did my kitchen cupboards come from?  How did the food I am eating grow?  Why do squirrels appear to sunbathe on my parents’ backyard fence?  What is the impact of anyone of my actions on another part of the world?  Because of this, I would look to connect the spaces in which we live with natural locations based on theme.  If I meet a group in a community centre and start in the kitchens, can we walk to a community garden where food is being grown.  If I consult with a family in their home, can we discuss water usage by going to a local ravine.  For a group in cottage country, can we look at the buildings in which they are staying and find the tree types used to build them in the forest.  

I grew up with a mother who was a Social Worker.  She focused on clinical work in family therapy and one thing she always said was that the work cannot only be done “in the room” if it is going to make a difference in a person’s life.  What she meant was that if we isolate the expectations and experience of learning to a single physical space  we do not get the practice to use or maybe even think about that learning elsewhere.  If each of us could consider the connection of the objects and natural resources in our daily lives with their original sources and how they fit into natural systems, then we have the opportunity for nature interpretation to impact actions.

The mandate which I would have for myself as a Nature Interpreter would be:

To create a safe, non-judgmental space for participants to share opinions and ask questions; and

To provide education of the natural world including how it is impacted by human activity; and

To share existing solutions to sustainability issues or connect individuals to develop such ideas.

My overall goal is empowerment.  I do not mean power over nature but empowerment for each of us to find ways to work with and appreciate our natural world.  We are in a scary place and lack of information and support are two things which can make anyone feel helpless.  But the more we learn, the more we can find that we are not helpless, and neither is nature.
